“Latitud Cero” Brewery

Latitud Cero is Ecuador. Ecuador is the Middle of the World. In the south of Ecuador, in the city of Cuenca, Cervecería La Paz brews Latitud Cero craft beer. The raw material, barley, is planted in its Hacienda La Paz (farm), an area of the same name at 3,100 meters above sea level, on the way to Loja, Nabón canton.

The company belongs to the Eljuri family business group. The launch of the Latitud Cero brand is dated July 17, 2015. Since that milestone, La Paz has developed a variety of delicious flavors that make a difference in the craft beer market.

In this farm, different types of beers (such as: blonde, wheat-based and horchata IPA) are brewed and then stored in the Los Conejos (“The Rabbits”), Los Pinos (“The Pines”) and Los Venados (“The Deers”) lots; spaces named as a tribute to the diversity of natural species that inhabit the La Paz moor. The manufacturing process of the Latitud Cero brand lasts from 26 to 28 days. After fermentation, the beer spends 2 weeks maturing. 6 varieties are developed: Antisana and Apachita (made with wheat), and Concordia, Catequilla, Punta Palmar and Sierra Negra (made with barley). Each of them has a unique flavor.

With “Latitud Cero Concordia” the company won a gold medal in the “Copa Cervezas de América” (tournament held in Chile), European Pale Bitter Beer category, year 2018. Latitud Cero is currently exported to the United States and Peru. Other brands of La Paz are 593 and Hacienda La Paz.

Two factors make them different; the ingredients and the quality, because they are brewed with 100% barley malt, hops, yeast and water. La Paz Brewery complies with the German Purity Law (est. 1516) of beer quality and flavor.
