Tourism, being an activity that integrates cultures and activates society, has become fundamental for the economy of a destination, provided it has: adequate planning, viable policies and correct decision-making that generates benefits for all those involved in this industry.
Understanding this concept, the Municipal Administration led by Mayor Pedro Palacios Ullauri, through the Municipal Tourism Foundation for Cuenca, executes a series of actions to keep Cuenca in the minds of national travelers as a desired destination; a city that innovates in its services on a daily basis, creates supply and strengthens itself as the biosafety-friendly destination of Ecuador.
Holiday season in the Costa region of Ecuador has a strong influence on Cuenca’s tourism; for this reason, the “Athens of Ecuador”, together with the entire industry and other interested parties, have generated a series of alternatives so that travelers can enjoy their days off by participating in different types of events: cultural, gastronomic, adventure, sports and more.
At this time of year (March and April) Cuenca has a mild and cool climate, two very important characteristics to enjoy tours of the historic sector and its surroundings.
In this month (March), for example, the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra will resume its face-to-face concerts with national and international music, where visitors can enjoy evenings with performances featuring a choir.
April will be a month dedicated to culture and the arts with concerts, theater performances and shows both indoors and outdoors.
During the months of March and April, Cuenca will host the event “Fiesta de las Artes Escénicas” (“Performing Arts Festival”) organized by the Colectivo Barojo, where tourists will be able to appreciate free shows dedicated to the recognition of Cuenca’s performing arts.
In April, the city will host the concert of Argentinian band Soda Stereo accompanied by a group of local singers.
It is important to mention that Cuenca is the first destination that offers tourist overflights over its historic sector. In a flight of 45 minutes, travelers will be able to appreciate the architecture of the city, specially the red roofs of its Colonial and Republican-style houses.
