Artisan chocolate from Cuenca wins national award

“Morena Cacao Ecuatoriano” – an artisan chocolate store in Cuenca – won second place in the “Ecuador en un bombón” creation contest, an event that brought together the best chocolatiers and exhibitors from all over the country.

Morena decided to participate with the objective of showing their chocolates made art. This was the first edition of the contest, and the competitors were evaluated according to criteria such as elaboration technique, design, texture, flavor, durability, and balance of ingredients.

A very important requirement was that the chocolates should represent Ecuador, that is to say, that in each bite one could taste some typical flavor of the country.

The bonbon with which “Morena Cacao Ecuatoriano” won second place was ‘the one that tastes like canelazo’, for it includes many ingredients from our region that make Cuenca stand out as a city where it is traditional to welcome visitors with a canelazo on cold days.

“Morena Cacao Ecuatoriano” is an artisan-chocolate shop in Cuenca run by Chef Chocolatier Elizabeth Sangolquí.

If you are a chocolate lover, you can discover their flavors at the Sport Wings Restaurant point of sale, located on Alejandro Vega Toral and Nicanor Aguilar streets.

You can also follow them on social networks.
